WAGE-HOUR ADM.
RULES ON HOURS
OF REDUCTION
WASHINGTON, Oct. 7.—The wage
hour administration said yesterday
that any work week, starting before
midnight, October 23, could continue
for 42 hours without payment of over
time.
Under the wage-hour law, the max
imum work week without overtime pay
is to be reduced from 42 to 40 hours
after October 23.
Col. Philip Fleming, wage-hour ad
ministrator, said he interpreted the
law to mean the new restriction ap
plied to “the first full work week be
ginning on or after midnight, Octo
ber 23.”
Under this construction, he explain
ed, the restriction would not apply to
a work week beginning Monday, Oc
tober 21.
The present minimum pa/ of 30
cents an hour will remain unchanged
whe nthe hours maximum is reduced.

HITLER’S NIGHTMARE
[The following poem appear
ed in the Iron Molders Journal,
haring been sent in by Los An
’ geles Women’s Auxiliary of that
craft, and is by Evelyn Hall, of
that auxiliary.]
I hare taken their money,
I hare taken their bread,
Eren the roofs right over their
heads.
I shall nerer rest, I shall never
sleep,
Though I dine and drink wine,
It’s all with fake glee—
My victims march in front of
me.
Here they come, one by one—
Mothers fathers, daughters,
sons.
Oh, God, where will I run?
Distorted mind, oh, let me be,
Oh, let me be!
My victories—what have they
coat me?
My victims will forever
March in front of me.

THE LABOR PRESS
The labor press is a sentinel on guard for the cause of
mankind. Every possible effort should be given in order that
your publication may be strengthened for still greater work
which lies ahead.
Your labor press renders an incalculable service to those
who work. We cannot too strongly urge our fellow workers
and friends to give loyal and tangible support. No greater
avenue of education is available to the trade union move
ment than your labor press. The community which supports
its Union paper reflects that co-operation through better,
more effective local unions, councils and central bodies.
