I see by this telegram that the White House has issued a denial of the New York Times’ so-called Authori tative’ report that I had tendered by resignation.” Miss Perk ms was obviously nettled. After inviting reporters, who had boarded the train in Charottte, to sit beside her in her compartments, she went on with a sniff that was not all due to the bad cold from which she has been suffering for two days, “Authoritative! — who in a case like this can be authoritative, except me or the President?” Miss Perkins folded the telegram with an air of finality that dismissed the matter.—James Willis Posey, in Observer, ********* PATRONIZE JOURNAL ADVERTISERS This Christmas ClVE ELECTRICAL GIFTS .. and You Give More For Your Money Mora Convonionco, Comfort, Mora Pleasure from Uvinf.
