heart attack.
A native of Belmont. Mass., Mr.
Gillis joined the union in 1911
and was an organizer from 1924
until 1945. In his career as a
labor leader he served in numer
ous executve positions.
He received law degrees from
Suffolk University Law School
and from Blacksfone Law School,
and in 1941 was given an honor
ary degree of doctor of laws by
the Blackstone school in recogni
tion of his pioneerng work in
adult education as a member og
the Worker’s Education Bureau

weather, the Federal Reserve
Board reported. Output of the
nation’s factories and mines was

the operators and by Southern Bell Telephone Company.
Transmission records are open for public inspection.
Calls originate from 43,000 telephones within Mecklenburg
County only. 148,000 people live in this telephone area.
Advertising positions are given without cost when avail
able. Calls can be rotated around-the-clock or transmitted
at one regular time every day.
Names of Time Service advertisers available on request.
A two per cent cash discount is offered on bills paid by
10th of month following transmissions.
