Murnick. young busi nessman of Charlotte who has been closely identified with the University of Noith Carolina and its athletic program, is a candi date for the city council in the spring election*. Mr. Murnick is president of Goodyear I’aint & Yamich, Inc. A resident of 2817 Willow drive, he is 33 year* old, mar ried, and the father of two l>oys. He has made his home in Cbar : lotte since 19:1:5, although serving for a time as hoxfng coach of the University of North Carolina and for two year* in the United States Navy a* an Athletic Spec ialist, Third Class. He is president of the Meck lenburg chapter of the Univer sity's Educational foundation and a member of the state-wide direc tors! board of the foundation. OTHER ACTIVITIES In addition to his other local activities, he is athletic director of the Hornets’ Nest Post of the American I.egion, an official ol the Carolinas’ Golden Gloves and general chairman of the Junior l Chamber of Commerce's annual rodeo, which is staged to finance instructional classes for retarded children. Mr. Murnick is offering for the council post in the interest of representing the people of Char lotte through public service, and pledged his support of a sound and efficient local government.
