active in boys' work and in the
Y. M. C. A. Of Charlotte.

J. Herman Saxon is a resident
of the Wendover Hills section of
Charlotte and lives on Churchill
Road.

SANDY JORDAN
Sandy Jordan, age 39, married,
one child. Home address, 1233
Skyland Road. Mr. Jordan is a
present City Councilman and his
business is Insurance Executive
and is a member of the Associa
tion of Life Insurance Underwrit
ers. He was born in Charlotte.
Mr. Jordan is a World War 11
veteran, serving nearly three (3)
years overseas. Sandy Jordan is
a member of the Moravian Little
Church on the Lane and is a
member of the Masonic Lodge; he
is a member of the Shrine Club;
he is a member of the Shrine
Band; he is a member of the
American Legion; he is a member
of Forty A Eight; he is a member
of Veterans of Foreign* Wars; he
is a member of the Disabled Vet
erans and he is treasurer of the
Young Democrats of Mecklenburg
County. ,
Mr. Jordan was elected to the
Charlotte City Council for the
first time in 1947. He serves on
permanent committees studying
charity and hospitalization, the
Health Merit Policy, the Mecklen
burg Industrial Home and on
various special committees ap
pointed during this two years'
term.
CLAUDE L. ALBEA
Mr. Abe* lives at 1911 Ashland Avenue. He hen served as a
City Councilman since 1991 with the exception of the years 1945 to
1947 when ho did not mn for re-election. He is at present a mem
ber of the City Council.
During his long years of service, hf has twice been Mayor Pro
Tom. Mr. Albea has been in the mechanical department of the Char
lotte News for the last 27 years. He has been President of the
Charlotte Central Labor Union since 1947 and is a past president of
the local Typographical Union, a post he held for ten years.
Mr. Albea is a member of the First A. R. P. Churth and a mem
ber of the Midwood Men’s Club. He also ip • member of the Im
proved Order of Red Men, Patriotic Sons of America and the Ameri
can Legion. During World War I he was a member of the famous
30th Division and was wounded in the drive that broke the Hin
denburg line. He is past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign
Wars and also of the Disabled American Veterans.
JOE H. MURNICK
Joe H. Murnick, young busi
nessman of Charlotte, who has

University of North Carolina and

date for the city council in the
Primary on April 25th.

Drive, he ia 33 yeara old. married,
and the father of two boya.
He haa made hia home in Char
lotte since 1933, although serving
for a time as boxing roach of the
University of North Carolina and
for two yeara in the United
States Navy as an Athletic Spec
ialist, Third Class
He ia president of the Meck
lenburg chapter of the Univer
sity’s Educational Foundation and
a member of the State-wide direc
toral board of the foundation.
In addition to his other local
activities, he is athletic director
Of the Hornets' Nest Post of the
Amerean Legion, an official of
the Carolines' Golden Gloves and
general chairman of the Junior •
Chamber of Commerce’s annual
rodeo, which is staged to finance
instructional classes for retarded
children.
Mr. Murnick is offering for the
council post in the interest^ of
representing the people of Char
lotte through public service, and
pledged hia support of a sound
and efficient local government.
The municipal primary will be
held on April 25, after a com
pletely new registration of voters,
and the general election is booked
for May 3.
