C. t Ten "Easy" Lessons On How To Build on Effective Union (Reprinted from the Bulletin of the American Federation of the Physically Handicapped, Inc.) 1. Always be a “Free Rider,** taking full advantage of the work done by others, but, don't do any work for the Organisation, your self. 2. Always be quick to criticise, but, never take a chance, by SHOWING folks how to do it, in stead of just TELLING THEM HOW. 3. Gripe about Initiation Fees, Dues, or other necessary Organi sation Expenses. Dues are always “TOO HIGH”, and the perfect Or ganisation, according to some, would be one wherein all Initiation Fees and Dues were abolished; Of ficers worked for nothing; Rent, Lights, Heat, Insurance, Printing, Postage, and Other Expenses is “FREE”. 4. Be sure and never go to Meet ings. Then, beef, and ask “What is the Organisation doing, now? Why don't they do something for the Members?” 5. NEVER ASK A PERSON TO JOIN THE ORGANIZATION. If you did, you might help build up the Organization into such a pow erful group that it would be able, thru having enough Members and funds to accomplish some of the things you ask for. If the Organ ization did that, then, what would you have to grouse about? 6. Never read Letters, Bulletins, or Magazines, from your Organi zation. If you did, you might then become informed, and up-to-date on what the Organisation is doing, and, against your better judgment, become more interested in its work. 7. If you are a Lodge Officer, be sure that you DON’T attend Meet ings, or encourage others to do so. 8. If you are a Lodge Secretary, Anniversary Greetings Carolina Foods, Inc. C or Financial Officer, be sure that you pay no attention to the require ments under the Constitothm. Such promptitude, on your part, would be unnatural, and you might, thus, cause several heart-failures, at H.Q. 9. Never stimulate, or take part in your Lodge’s recreation affairs. Just say, “Oh, that's a lot of fool ishness”, and dismiss from your mind the thought that perhaps a dance, a musicale, a bingo party, and the like, might give happiness to many of our people. 10. In summary: where your Or ganisation’s interest are concerned, NEVER DO, TODAY, WHAT YOU CAN PUT OFF, UNTIL TOMOR ROW! If you follow the above rules, we guarante you will never build ANY Organization, anywhere, anytime, and, of course, then you won’t have to be bothered at all. BUT, IF YOU REALLY WANT TO HAVE AN EFFECTIVE OR GANIZATION JUST “REVERSE” ALL SUGGESTIONS ABOVE and SUBSTITUTE "DO IT NOW”! 1 And the above Easy Lessons on HOW NOT To Build An Organiza tion apply to our Labor Unions, too! We must NOT follow them!
