IS CITIZENSHIP WORTH
YOUR VOTE?
(Continued From Page 1)
bound *e become n dead letter.
Instead of self-government, in
stead of majority rule, we would
then have rule by the minority.
k We must see to it that our
democracy continues to work for
the benefit of all our people. We
must keep our democracy dy
namic, not lethargic. It comes
down to this: the security of the
American way of life depends
upon the vitality of American
citizens. The price of continued
freedom and democracy is good
citizenship.
Are you a good citizen? If you
are, then you should be able to
answer yes to, the following
questions:
Have you registered or will
you register in order to vote?
Are you going to make certain
to vote on November 7?
If you don't register, you can’t
vote in the great majority of
states.
Labor’s League for Political
Education is trying ts get out a
big vote in the coming elections.

We consider it our patriotic duty
to convince the American people
that it is of the utmost impor
tance for them to vote.
Naturally, every voter wants
to vote intelligently. It is fre
quently difficult, however, to
judge between the conflicting
claims of candidates for office,
especially those running for elec
tion to Congress. In such cases,
the voting reconns of your con
gressman and your senators are
the best guide. Labor’s League
for Political Education has been
I recording the votes of all mem
I bers of Congress on outstanding
' issues. As a public service, the
league will distribute pamphlets
-containing the voting records of
congressmen and senators.
Many years ago Samuel Go wi
pers said:
“No union member can be
considered a good union member
unless he is first a good citizen.”
Those words are more true to
day than ever before. This year
it' is the paramount duty of every
union member to prove his good
citizenship by making certain
first to register and then to cast
his vote next November.
