The deep rert at Judge Clark'-, withdrawal from the gubernatorial contest , as expressed by the press and the p-ople of the State general ly, is h source of great gratification to his friend. From every section of the St.-ite there arc expressions of disappointment, showing the grow ing popularity f Jude Clark, and the i.ivr- i-iI'cib in which he is held by hi ! i'.'-w citizjns. Hi- pj'ri'ilie devotion to the State and his unselfish principles of pre ferant c for the party's good show biru to iu every inch a man; and it is thus all the harder for his friends to be resigned to his action in the matter of his withdrawal.
