The largest trade of the kind ever made in the South wa recently con summated when that well known Hultimore firm, Messrs. Jl. Cone & Sons, bought of the McAden Mills McAdensvill-, near Cba-Itte , 2,000 bales of plaids amounting to T.ctrly $100,000. The transaction will doubtless have its effect upon the market. The price of plstids have for some time been lower than they have ever been in the history of the trade, caused by the great "umber of new plaid mills in the past two vearn, and a a result there has I een an over production and the Hoods had to be sold at less than the cost of manufacture, the recent en hance in the price of cotton con sidered. The McAden mills, next to T. M. Holt's of Haw River, the largest mills in the State, have turnsd part of their looms off of plaids, as have most of the thirteen milN owned by the Holts , and we are told that the mills on Deep llier and at Rock ingharn , too, have had to go at other voods. This gives significance to 1 be purchase- made by Messrs. II, Core & Son's, as it not only takes oud of the way all surplus stock on the market, but leaves the mills actu ally har. as their contract likewise covers the product of the looms the McAde i mdls will turn out in plaids fhe next six months. Wc learn that the McAdrns had only about 200 bales of the 2 000 sold on hand, while last year at this time their ptook was 2,800. El in u CiirioitN I'ael That the body is now more susceptible to benefit from nicoicine than at any other season.
