It was a representative body of the democrats of the district. Much enthusiasm was manifested and some good f-poecb.es were made. It was a most harmonious convention fret- from all bitterness ot feeling, or faction. The speeches that were made were all conciliatory and did not contribute at all to drive the dis affected farther from the party. Tn ken all together it was a most pleas ant gathering of representative dem ocrats, and its work war highly t-at-tsfactory. Scotland Neck opened wide its dHrs to welcome tbe visitors and did all that it could to contribute to the enjoyment of the delegates.
