When all the different kinds of in
dustry obtain in a community, each in
dividual can find his proper element,
and call into activity the whole vigor
of his nature ; and the community is

each can serve it with most effect. To
cherish and stimulate the activities of
the human mind by multiplying the
objects of enterprise, is not among the
least considerable expedients by which
the wealth ot a nation may be promot

. The excitement of a great national
campaign has just closed. It is a mat

ways clog the wheels of industrial prog

has just closed has been no exception.
For months and months every indus

steps of progress to the result of the
election. The result has come, and
whether or not the question is settled
according to the preference of most of
our industrious and energetic people, it
is settled : and the sooner the country
gets down to business in dead earnest
the better. We must live for four
years at least under the plans and pros-
