Farmers of Halifax, Edgecombe and Martin Counties May Hold Cotton and Get Casb on It. There is a strong inclination on the part of farmers and merchants to hold cotton until the Spring. To aJl who desire it I am prepared and will advance three-fourths of its value, with the charges of 6 per cent, interest and the actual cost of storage, insurance snd selling. C, Oct. 2, '99 Miss Anna Bum pass died last Thurs day and was buried Friday. Dr. Stallings' little daughter Jessie died last Saturday suddenly. Rev. J. T. Abernathy is very sick. Mr. Jesse nttman is very sick and three of his sisters are sick. Mr. J. H. JJatchelor, from near Hali fax, bi'ought some tobacco here last Friday, and his horses got frightened at the train and ran over him, hurting him badly, and he was taken to Hali tax on the train. Lilly, a prominent citizen of Hannibal, Mo., lately had a wonder ful deliverance from a frightful death In telling of it he says : "I was taken with Typhoid Feyer, that ran into Pneumonia.
