Miss Quint Copeland has returned from Matthews county, Va., where she has been visiting relatives and friends. Mr M L Parker and wife . of Drivers, Ya., are visiting the family of W Mr J A Copeland. Mr M L Rice went to Wilmington, N. O. Eunday to take a position with the Angola Lumber Co. Messrs L M Badham and E Hays' went to Norfolk Saturday on business. Mr ar.d Mrs Giddens came up on the Clinton excursion and are visiting the family of Rev L M Curtis. Mr Whit Bell, of Scotland r Neck, spent a few hours here last week. He was en route to the Confederate Re union at Windsor, N. C. The excursion from here to Wind sor on account of the Confederate Re union was well patronized. Miss Vivien Foye went to Newborn Saturday for a month's visit to friends and relatives. There is one case of fever reported in town thi3 year and that is ln the family Mr H T Waters. One ct his children has typhoid fever and is very ill. Crops aro" ne sling rain badly but are in good condition yet. The schedule of the afternoon shoo fly has been changed again. It now arrives here at 6.10 p. m. Cor. to The Commonwealth. ' - Miss Linnie Saarboro, daughter of Mrs. Mattio Scarboro, and Mr. Frank Haden were married Wednesday July 24th 9 p. m., in Richmond. The wed ding took place at the Home of the bride'd uncle 1203 East Franklin St. The bridesmaid was Miss Myrtle Fletcher. Mr. W. T. Steward best man. Miss Addie Hinea, Prof. H. M Matfield, Miss Laura Emons, and Mr. Fisher, were the attendants. Flower Girls little Misses Cora Cook and Lilllie Scott. After the ceremony supper was served. About forty-five friends of the bride and bridegroom were present and all enjoyed them selves well. Mr. Frank Haden is a popular young mechanic and is employed in the Richmond Locomotive works. Mrs. Mattie Scarboro and daughter Miss Linnie were fomerly of Scotland Neck. Rev. Mr. Cook officiated. F. S.
