Death of Little Alcathia Marks Shaw. ii6d ou Sunday near Enfield August 20 of spinal meningitis, Aleathia Marks, oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shaw, aged 2 years 1 month and 20 days. She had been in perfect health a good while. On Saturday before her death she was taken sick and on Sun day there was a change for the worse and in a few hours there was a decided one. We saw that medical aid nor loving hands could not lengthen the life of little Aleathia. She was a very affectionate and un usually bright child. She was buried in Scotland Neck Baptist cemetery on Monday afternoon. Rev. J. E. Holden, of Scotland Neck, spoke very touch ingly of the life and death of one so pure, that knew not ct the sting of sin. The little chair she loved so well is vacant. No more will we hear her sing the little songs she sang so sweet ly, but weep not bereaved ones, she is singing songs ot gladness around the throne of God where sorrow and sick ness can never darken the brightness of her joy. She will ever be waiting for you at the beautiul gate. Look to Him that doeth all things well and say, "Thy will be done." Dear Sir : How did you get your business? we'll tell you how we got ours. You cell shoes, we make paint ; perhaps we can do a good turn to our selves, you and we, by swapping exper iences. We began 152 years ago in a little shop a few-minutes walk from where we are now ; a great many things have happened, we don't remember them all. We made a good paint as wo could and learned to make better. We are the oldest now ; we don't know whether we had any teacher or not ; it's so long ago ; If we had, he's gone and forgotten. We should have been forgotten if wo hadn't made good paint and friends. You buy your shoes ; you have an advantage in that ; if you make a mis take, you can stop it quick. We've had to go slow ; it's hard to pick-out one's own mistakes, and nothing but fun to correct the mistakes of others. You know where to go for leather that keeps it's shape, feels good, looks new, and wears a long time. What a comfort it is to be comfortable from making one's customers comfortable ! We also have a unique advantange unique, you know, means that nobody-else has anything like it. We make a strong paint that takes less gal lons, saves half the cost of painting your house, and it's like that leather of yours for wear. It is ail paint and the strongest of paint. Taint is usual ly adulterated and weak. We're very old, but we make young paint I one gallon is better than two, it it has the stuff in it. Yours truly, 2 F. W. DEVOE & CO., New York. P. S. E. T. Whitehead & Co. sells our paint. ManZan relieves instantly the pain caused by those blind, bleeding, itch ing and protruding piles.
