Mr. Hancock had driven the horse in from a clover lot, and the hoi'se playfully ran back to the lot. The dividing fence was of wire, and the horse not noticing the wire ran against it. The wire struck him about the breast, and the horse was running so fast that striking the wire turned him a sum mersault which broke his neck. Mr. Hancock raid the horse barely kicked at all?' Well Managed School. Mr. B. F. Montague, a member of the city school board for Raleigh, while here last week visited Scot land Neck graded schools. He ex pressed himself as highly pleased with the management of the schools and the work of the teachers. The people of Scotland Neck do not realize the value of the splendid schools they have, and few appreci ate them as they should. Mr. Jno. A. Oates, chairman of the State Anti-Saloon League, will address the people of the county on prohibition at Halifax, Monday, May 4th.
