Funeral of Kr. Powell.
On account of the lateness of the
train and the inclement weather the
burial of Mr. Aquilla T. Powell did
not take place until Thursday morn
ing at 10 o'clock. Upon the arrival
of the train Wednesday afternoon
the body was taken to his childhood
home on Main street where it re
mained until next morning.
The funeral services were conduct
ed at the grave by Rev. C. G. Brad
ley, rector of Trinity church. While
the grave was being filled a select
choir sang, "Lead Kindly Light",
"Sometime We'll Understand", and
"Jesus, Lover of My Soul."
The grave was covered with beau
tiful flowers, and the large gather
ing turned away from the new made
grave with sorrow at the sudden
ending of a capable young life.

Methodist Sunday school next
Wednesday Aug. 24th, in the Baptist
church, begining at 3 o'clock. The
afternoon session will be devoted to
business and a general discussion of
Baraca work throughout the county.
At the night session Rev. Chas. L.
Greaves, of New Bern, will deliver
an address in the Itaptbt Church.
Mr. Greaves is a polished speaker
and always charms his audience.
Everybody in town is invited to hear

ment of the visitors. It is expected
