F. Dunn has been appoint ed game warden for Conoconara township. The Atlantic Coast Line is tc be commended for the interest it is taking in the good roads train. Yearby, the new pastor assigned to the Scotland Neck Meth odist church is expected here Sat ur day and wid preach his first sermon Sunday morning. The public is cor dially invited to hear him. The scenes of "The New Countv Sheriff" by Lem B. Parker, are laid in the far West where, according to early history, strange people coming from everywhere, joined forces, soon lost their names. There they struggled, laughed, cursed, kiiled and loved; of one thing only were they certain they lived. Apowei'- ful play with a strong cast. At the Madry opera house Tuesday nignt, Dec. 12th. There are more pretty girls with pretty faces in manager Desmond presentation of "A Bunch of Keys than have been projected into thea trical vision in many a day. If the performance possessed no other at tractiin it would be notable in this because the entire group of women are young and unconventional, and they look so much fresher and brighter than the usual crowning farce-comedy. ' "A Bmnchof Keys" will be at Madry's opera house Thursday night, 7th. The good roads train operated by the Atlantic Coast Line Railway, was here on schedule time Wedne day of last week. Quite a number of our people visited the train and enjoyed the illustrated lectures on the suject of good roads. The pict ures showed the effect of good and had roads on a community, whicn was very striking and convincing. In the demonstration car was shown models of road building machiner.v in operation. We regret that more of our people did not come out to see the good roads train. 'The County Sheriff" is one of those stirring dramas of the ear'y days on the borders of civilization in which a sweet story is woven fVnm and tells a story of true love. It allows one to settle comfortably into an orchestra chair to smile rnarllv all the while. All the good work that is in a man comes to, the surface. It is the pure soul triumph ing in the end, by his very trust and honesty. It is the fundamental prin ciple of success and happiness that one sees explained. "The County Sheriff" will be the attraction at Madry's opera house Tuesday night, Dec. 12th. Hnvt's "A Bunch of Keys" bub bles with the richest humor. It is natural that unscrupulous persons should seek to strengthen parts of their own weak pieces with the fun that is so plentiful in Hoyt's play, the new "Bunch of Keys" is very different from the play represented tvlastvear. Manager Boyer has made practically a new production nfit with the new features and catchy specialties for whicn ne ran sacked the new vaudeville theatres of Europe as well as. New York in order to present original acts. Ihib delightful farce comedy will be the entertainment at Madry's opera house, Dec. 7th. One of the prettiest marriages witnessed in Scotland Neck in along time was solemnized in the Baptist church on Wednesday evening, No vember twenty-ninth, when Miss Mattie Virginia Baggett became the bride of Mr. Claude Alonzo Harring ton, of Gainesville, Georgia. It had been announced but a few days that this popular young lady was to be come a bride, and much interest was manifested in the event. The rostrum of the church had been beautifully decorated for the occasion, being banked with a pro fusion of ferns, cedar and potted plants, intermingled with autumn roses. While the congregation was assembling Mrs. James Allen Pitt man played beautifully "Bridal Morn" and "Apple Blossoms." Promptly at the appointed hour, six o'clock, the large church organ pealed forth the strains of Mendels sohn's wedding march, announcing to the eager congregation the arrival of the bridal party. First entered the ushers, Messrs. David Franklin Bryant, Herbert Stanley Butts, Charles Linwood Staten, and Roland James, being followed by little Miss Martha Beach er Madry and Master William Pow ers and little Miss Elsie May Vaughan and Master William Newell. Next came little Miss Katherine Shields bearing a beautiful band of gold, with which the couple plighted their troth. Following the ring bearer came the bride, who was beautifully costumed in a suit of white messa- !ine with trimmings ot lace and crystals, and carrying a bouquet of white carnations and fern, accom panied by her maid of honor, Miss Nettie Norfleet Bell, who was charm- int?!v attied in n suit of champaign Expensive Looking Cut Glass.
