He was in his fifteenth year and was well known throughout the county as a prominent coon dog. Will the coons be happy to learn of Rainb ow's death. This community was shocked last Friday afternoon when it was an nounced that Mr. Jesse Maran Butts, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Butts, had died at 10 o'clock in a Richmond hospital. The body was brought to Scotland Neck Saturday morning and taken to the home of Mrs. Catherine Bowers, on Main street, where it remained until 2 o'clock in the afternoon, when the burial took place in the Baptist cem etery, the s.-rvices being conducted by Eider W. B. Strickland. Mr. Butts, with his sister, went to visit an uncle near Halifax about five weeks ago. Soon after their arrival he was taken desperately ill and Dr. H. B. Butts, who had been notified of his son's condition, and Dr. Furgerson. After consultation with the hos pital physicians it was decided that Mr. Butts' condition would not nr. mit of an operation, and other treat ment was given him.
