Battle has recently sold his home in the Greenwood end of town, snd is preparing to build s cottage on the lot next to Mr. A. F. Hancock. The series of meeings at the Bap tist church are still in progress and will likely continue for several days. Mr. Garland is doing some powerful preaching. Mr. Chas. W. Albertson lost a very fine work mule Sunday night. The mule got hung in the stable while wallowing and in trying to get up broke its neck. We understand that Mr. H. T. Hr.ncock has purchased 50 acres of land of the Ferrell place, fronting Mr. G. K. Moore, and will begin in a short while the erection of a coun try home. Little Syble Ross celebrated her seventh birthday last Wednesday, entertaining her little friends and school mates at a birthday party. Miss Helen Council, of Hamilton, is the guest of Miss Marjory Barrett. Mrs. Bradley spent several days in Tarboro last week and attended the fair while there. Miss Susie Burnett left Saturday for a visit.to Rocky Mt., Goldsboro and Weldon. A party ofyoungfolks walked out to the home of Mr. Joe Long lat Tuesday night and enjoyed a very delightful evening. A few of our enterprising citizens took the advice issued by the good roads commissioners and worked the roads on the 5th. and 6th. J. W. York, E. L. Perkins, J. W. Hines, N. M. Worsley and John Martin, Sr. were the enterprising ones of Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Flave Harrell have returned from their wedding trip and are now at home to their many friends.
