BLIND STUDENT INVENTS MA CHINE TO TEST BLIND PER SON'S ABILITY TO LEARN (BY UNITED PRESS) Eugene, Oregon, Dec. 22. A machine for scientifically testing the ability of blind persons to learn is in use today at Oregon University. It is the invention of Thomas Cutsf orth of Riddle, Ore., a blind student here. The device is a box, containing a belt of canvass on rollers. Words, in rais ed letters are printed on the belt. Put ting his fingers through a hole in the top, the student attempts to read words by the touch system. The belt is re volved at varying speeds by an instruc tor, who thus ascertains how quickly a student can learn. ' ' The box makes possible experiments to show., the idiosymcrasies of any blind learner, ' ' said Dr. R. H. Wheeler, instructor in psychology. "Cutsworth has also "discovered illusions of the blind and has done research work in dreams of the blind. TEN THOUSAND SCIENTISTS OF U. S. Be sure you select a car that is sold by a firm that will give you FACTS AND FIGURES, and then mjake com parisons for yourself. 'Ask the fellow who is trying to sell you a ear the SIZE of his engine not what he says is the Horse Power but the Bore and Stroke of his engine. The OVERLAND Model 85-4 has cy linders 4 x 4 inch. We claim 35 H. P. but we know of people who CLAIM 40 to 45 H. P. for cylinders not so large - See if motor has Priming Cups in cylinders. This is important as you will find out when you go to start mo tor when it is very cold. All OVER LANDS have Priming Cups. Ask him how many main or station ary bearings in his engine. The OVEE LAND Model 85-4 has FIVE main or stationary bearings on, crank shaft. Don't you know that is the best con struction? Ask him what kind of Bearings in front wheels. Don't take a car whose front wheels run on Balls and Adjust ing Cones for this kind of bearing is only supposed to be used in care of the cheapest class; . The OVERLAND Model 85-4 has front wheels running on the mostly costly Timkin Roller Bearings, ' Ask him what style Rear Axle his car has, and do not take a car that has the old style Non or Semi Floating Type. The OVERLAND Model 85-4 has Full Floating Rear Axles. Do you know what Floating Rear Axles means? It means that the Axle does not have to carry all of the weight of the car and passengers, but only has to propel the rear wheels. The weight of car and passengers is carried by Roller Bearings running just at end of spokes and on case hardened axle housing. Ask him of the Wheel Base of his car. The OVERLAND Model 85-4 has 112 inch Wheel Base. Many cars sell ing for more money have shorter Wheel Base,. Ask him "about the Springs, and take none but CANTILEVER SPRINGS. With these you do not need SHOCK ABSORBERS for. they ride easy with out this addition. ALL OVERLANDS USE CANTILEVER SPRINGS. Do not ask him about GASOLINE CON SUMPTION, but ask users of the same make of cars and get their experience The OVERLAND Model 85-4 and lar ger sizes all use the Vacuum by stem which gives more miles per gallon thaa pressure tank and other systems. And last but not least, see what km-l of Electric System is used and do not take the complicated kinds. The 0V ERLANDS use the Auto-Lite, 0 Volt system and we have not seen or hear'l of any more simple and easy to keep in repair and adjustment. Our Model 7-5B is a 31 IT.
