Lewis and. Mrs. W, H. White motored to Enfield ytsterday. 3Ir. II. F. Rouse one of the com munity rs hustling young business men motortd to his fathers home near Magnolia Sunday and returned. Mr. J. D. Midyette of Wash ington, N. C. who is an expert hardware man, has accepted a position with the Hardy Hard ware Co. He took up his duties in this popular hardware house Monday morning. Mr. J. Y. Savage died this morning about eight o'clock. He had,, bpen ' sinking ; for several days and his family had given up hope , qf recovery. The ; funeral mill be" held - tomorrow' at 11 o'clock and the interment will takeplace in the Episcopal ceme tery. Mr. Savage was one of Scotland Necks most respected citizens. He was a Confederate veteran and went off with the Cavalry company that had been in exis tence here before the war. He was about eighty four years old and was quite active to within a few weeks of his death. Mr. Savage was a fine orpharrUct gardner. Hp also 1tpti n woam. Claud Kitchin and Mrs. Kitchin left for Washington City this morning after casting then- ballots and Mrs. Claud Kit chin lias the distinction of .being the first lady of Scotland Neck , to vote in an election.
