Upon being informed that one is from this good town, the people begin to compliment Scotland Neck. They greet you with': "You are cer tainly making wonderful strides in that town now. What has taken place? I don't even hear the hotel complained of now, but, to the contrary, they say there i& no better place to stop at, and traveling men are leav ing other nearby towns to go there '" And so it goes. A stranger might wonder, but the home people KNOW what is doing it. The citizens have awakened to the cold fact that a united effort will accompli.-m great things and they are bend ing every energy and straining every nerve to see that Scotland Neck is the most progressive, cleanest and best town in North Carolina. For lofty ideals and aspira tions no town or Community can boast of a better citizenship, and for intelligence, where is there a body of people that can surpass' our home folk? The keynote has been struck and Scotland Neck will continue to lead. Procrastination is the only thing that has kept her back so long. It was the famous Mary Carr ?s i " Over the Hill. The fehow was good thorough- out, but the one feature of it that impressed us more forcibly than all the rest was the hypo critical son, Isaac. Isaac, from early childhood, was a Bible stu dent, received prizes for know, ing the Ten Commandments and always gave thanks at the-table. But Isaac. was a hypocrite of the rankest sort.
