The army bill, as it passed the House authorises a standing army of 25,000 men just 15,000 more than is needed. R. B. On Friday morning last the citi zen of Knoxville, Tenn., were shaken up and astonished by the shock of an earthquake. It only lasted about a minute, which was time enough to give the people a big scare, and smasn up a good many windows. The Russians have carried Kara by assault, the attack lasted from 8 o'clock at night until 8 in the morn ing; the 'Turks lost 5,000 killed, 10,000 prisoners, 300 cannon and large quantities of munitions of war.
