A QUESTION FOR MATIIEMATI- CIANS AND ECONOMISTS. IF 1860 feet of gas is consumed 4hrough eight burners, in 9 nights, at a cost of $5 per thou sand feet, how much is consumed by each burner per hour ? at what cost, and what would be, the cost of an equal amount of .light obtained from Kerosene Oil? -Answer: There is consumed by each burner, 25 feet per nightl or 6 feet per hour, at a cost Of 6 cents jer hour per burner.' Four Kerosene Lamps afford as much light as 8 gas burners; 4 gallons of Kerosebe Oil will supply 4 lamps one month, which, atj$I,20 per gallon, is $4,80 per month, or a cost of one cent per hour per lamp; therefore, by burninggas, the expense is only six hundred per centum greater than to burn Kerosene Oil, which, with Lamps, can be had at the RENDEZVOUS of the Inimitable jan 12 CASSIDEY. f "VTEW ORLEANS SYRUP. 20 barrels of I J choice.
