A QUESTION FOR MATHEMATI CIANS AND ECONOMISTS. IF IStJO feet of gas is consumed througb eighfr burners, in 9 nights, at a cost of $5 per thou sand feet, how much is consnrned by each burner per hour ? at what I cost, and what would be the cost of an -equal amount of light obtained from Kerosene Oil? Answer : There is consumed by each burner, 25 feet per night, or C feet per hour, at a cost of 6 cents per hour per burner. Four Kerosene Lamps afford aa much light as 8 gas burners; 4 gallons of Kerosene Oil will supply 4 lamps one month, which, at $1,20 per gallon, is $4,80 per month, or a cost of one cent per hour per lamp; therefore, by burning gas, the expense is only six hundred per centum greater than ta burn Kerosene Oil, which, with Lamps, can be had at the RENDEZVOUS of the Inimitable jan 12 ' CASSIDEY HVTEW ORLEANS SYRUP. 20 barrels of l choice.
