The widow of William Simpson lived in this county for many years with a man named John Leech, anil passed for his wife, lUt there was no marriage until within a few months before her death, when, it tyccuis, the public refused longer to tolerate the' vio lation of law, and they were married, f After the death of Leech's wife, he took Up with her daughter, a clnhl ty her nrst husband, Simpsrm. The' girl waaj probably eighteen at the time, and has been living in. the Unhallowed relation of wife for some years past, during which time she has been the mother of two children by Leech. It seems that, notwithstanding her well known relation to Leech, she had a suitor, to whom the step-fathpr ami seiiii-husband ob jected. On Thursday night, the 'girl and a man named Minor were to be married. That afternoon Leech met lier on the road, and addressing ..the ' girl, demanded., to know whether it was true that she intended mar rying Minor that night. - She replied that she did; whereupon Leech seized his gun, arid tired.
