Every Republican paper in the State sus- ' tains the action of the Republican State Con' : .ventiOn held in Raleign on the 5th of Sep- tembk 1867. V- : ' -r '' We wish to call! particular attention to : : the resolutions in another column,' offered in ,!the iJonvention by Mk' 1 Galloway. Since September 5th, 1867, the Obstruc- uonist press inrougnoui ine douio, anu me Copperhead press iNorth, hai teemed with slanderous articles upon the colored people in ttis Stajte; .They have told their readers thatj the colored people were in favor of co?i ' fis'catiou; and of taxing -each and every acre 5 of land in the State, one 'dollar jfor school purposes; that they were opposed to remov ing 'disabilities from disfranchised men, men loyi.l,. to .the government." These charges have been i scattered broadcast, when in fact there was little or no foundation for them; f On thislpoint we publish' to-day a series of resolutions adopted unanimously Jon ' Wednesday-evening, by a meeting of the i colored residents of this county, denying each and every allegation. ; ; This meeting was the . largest political gathering lever held in this county, and the resolutions therefore may be considered fas . expressing! the views of the great 'majority of colored rpeople.
