C i;l From the Washinston Chronicle. Charleston, 9. C, April 18,1863. I lvThe constitution has triumphed in South Carolina. The returns thus far unmistakabl v indicate that the Republicans have carried the Ptate by. a majority of not less than twenty thousand. We shall fire ' one hun dred guns to-day; to celebrate this victory of the Tight over the wrong. : ,7 The destructionists strained every nerve and sinew ' to .defeat - the constitution, and received -twenty thousand (20,000) dollars' from the.Democratic executive committee of Nevir York alone, to expend for this :i pur pose. tTbey also practised a universal system, of terrorism 1 to eflect'1 their object. They seized ; and l destroyed V 1 every Republican ticket at fjie; Ninety-Sir and Honea-Path precinct, in Abbeville and Newberry .coun ties, and ' armed bands drove T Bepublicans from the polls at the mnzzless of their guns and pistols" Yet, despite of all fraud and force, the law of equal rights has triumphed. Seven y fears "ago the secessionists' of South Carolina took the ship of State out'-of the harbor of the Unionhauled down her glo rious ensign; and threw ! out from her mast head a strange flag the symbol of oppression and wrong.5; They finally wrecked her upon the reefs and breakers of rebellion, and there we found her we have repaired her batter ed hulland replaced her- rent and storm blackened sails; and although we bring her back to the oidayeii:withiimixed, lcrewt j ci an - uaii j ilto. iiijj auu Bwpiuiq music of the Union. The destructionists predicted that the constitutional convention that met here on 1 the 14th of January , last would, by its measures! utterly destroy the fiancial credit of the State ; but mark how plain a tale shall put them down. On the day that the constitutional convention met, the bonds of South Carolina Twere-quoted at twenty-five cents on the dollar, they are sold to dayat fifty-three cents on the dollar. .We nave carried the city c f Charleston by nine teen hundred (1,900) majority. 'Six hun dred whites, despite the most bitter proscrip tion by their class, voted the Republican ticket in Charleston! There were only seventy-five (75) whites who voted for a conven tion in November last. Vidkttb. BUSINESS CARDS. DAfJIEL A.
