There arc a fe w ot "U8: lip' here who take the Post, ana we are highly gratified: and we are arming ourselves tor the big battle that is to be fought against the ku klux democracy. The good cause is advaucing rapidly, and the Republicans up here are unanimously in favor of Gen. Allan Rutherford for Congress. A great number of the whites, who voted with the ku klux democracy, swear that they will never vote the democratic ticket again; they say that the last Legislature was no better (if as cood) than the Republican Legislature (which they, the democrats) are always abusing: fhev say the last Legislature was an aristocratic body: that a rich man could iro to Raleigh and have any law passed he wished, be it ever so oppressive on the poor mau. I tell you, Mr. .Editor, the poor pea pie of North Carolina are opening their eyes; they don't intend to be dupedany longer, I am: laboring in the good cause and we intend to rout and capture the ene mv in old Coiurnbus. next Summer. Editor Wilmington Post : Sin: The name that jheads this com munication is familiar to every Republican in New Hanover, and in eyeiy county in the Third Congressional District. Several of these counties have already held their conventions, and by a unanimous vote have instructed their delegates to the District Convention to cast tho vote of their counties for the nomination of Gen. Allan Rutherford for Congress. It is expected that most ot the remaining counties will I loiiow this lead. Your correspondent iully endorses this movement as mguiy creauaoie to the party, and. of great advantage to the material interest cf the counties comprising this District. Gen. Rutherford is a gentleman of un questionable integrity and ability, industri ous and always approachable, and I am certain that the people : or tnis aisinci could not select a representative in the United States Congress, who would serve tljeir interests with more fidelity, or with greater effort for good than he. It is urged by an insignificant few, that by reason of his being qf Northern birth and education, his nomination would endanger tue success of the party in the district tnac ior me above reason he could npt command the full-support of the party if nominated. Let us look at this, and see if there are grounds for such asstrtion, andfrom whom they come. His iibility, integrity and political influ ence i3 acknowledged.
