Yesterday morning a horse, blind in
one eye, and a cart belonging to a col
ored man named Henry Robinson, was
left standing at the foot of Princess
street, very near the dock. Seeing
some nice bales of straw close at hand
lie began to eat, with7 the back of the
cart close to the dock. The owner of
the straw feeing the horse quietly eat
ing'it,' waved his hand at him to make
him desist. - The animal, however,
backed down to the water and before
he could be stopped "went overboard,
cart and all, in to the water, which was
luckily, only up to his knees, and it was
with considerable trouble thai,, he Was
rescued. ' .

Proposals for making contracts to' do
certain work on the harbor of this port
have been printed. A copy can be seen
at the omce of the Chamber of Com

Thk organization, composed of young
men who cannot vote, has been of great
service during the campaign. They
have attended all the public meetings
and borne 'transparencies and torches,
and added much to the attractiveness
