"You see, it was this way," he said, with an amazing frankness. "As I was leaving for Europe about two years ago, I changed, to read in a New York paper the comment of how singular it was that Clyde Fitch had never seem ed able to write a real light comedy. He; is forever bringing in some dra matic scene that is lifting the piece out of its genre'. Well, I made up my mind that sometime I would show that I could keep away from anything except the purely everyday on the one hand and farce on the other and "The Bachelor'is the outcome." The interviewer then asked, "I sup pose by now Mr. Fitch, you have lost all excitement about having your plays produced. It is pretty much the same story isn't it? "The Bachelor," I be lieve is your fifty-third play?" "There is plenty of excitement," re plied Mr. Fitch. "You see, no one ever knows whether a play will succeed or fail, no matter how many winners one may have had. There was The Girl and the Judge,"' for example. The curtain went down oh the third act, which was next to the last without a hand. Mr. Frphman, wna produced i the play, and myself both leff the thea tre under the impression that it was a failude. It was not." Mr. Paul Gilmore will appear here in Sam S. and Lee Shubert's Original New York Production of Clyde Fitch's comedy, "The Bachelor" Tuesday Tonight Frederick tae Great will be at the Academy of Music, giving one of his wonderful and astonishing in fact, in many ways startling perform ances of naglc. Frederick has been hailed as the leading exponent of his weird and mysterious art in the coun try and has been highly praised by the press. The performance will be given a brillian scenic setting and tons of mechanical effects and a large amount of, electrical apparatus are required for staging the big illusions given by Frederick. Besides his remarkable features a strong and high class vaude ville bill will be introduced. Prices for tonight are decidedly small. Re served seats are 50 and 75 cents, with the box seats $1.00 and seats for to night can be obtained at Plummer's A f 1 1.
