Lo show, the boys that the homefolks
are thinking of them daily. '
In addition - three unusually large
fruit cakes, a box of pipes and a quari-
titjr of tobacco was sent to be dis
tributed at random. The local Red
Cross has attended to the wants of1
every member of the company of
Wilmington Engirieers and in a state
ment this morning Mrs. Cuthbert
Martin, president Of the local society,
expressed appreciation for the gen
erous manner in which the appeals of
the society had "met with. She wants
all to understand, that the members
of the society appreciate the' splen
did manner in which the public re
sponded to the appeal that will make
possible a happy Christmas for the
Wilmington boy's in Mexico.
The society recently shipped fif
teen comfdrt kits to members of the
Wilmington Engineer company and
while this fact is not generally
known ,the boys received them long
ao and have been enjoying their use
rince. The local Red Cross society
ha; perhaps done more for the boys
from this city that are on the border
than any organization has done for
young men from their community and
much df the credit is due Mrs. Cuth
bert Martin and Mrs. L. Bluethenthal
fcr they have worked tirelessly to as
sure the success of the undertaking
and to gladden the hearts of the
boys ayong the border.
