IT IS DESIGNED IJY THE FOUNDERS 1 of Tl he" Wilson Schools, to furnish to the young of both sexes in the State and out of it, tiikbkst facilities lor a couipreneusive, ino rough and practical education. For the accomplishment of this worthy endj, the Charter of the .ScH'Vil.V authorizes theinvestmeat of 50,000 ; more tlian one thivd of this amount has already been . de-' votbd to the erection of elegant College Buildings, supplying tliem with appropriate furniture, bath rooms, warm and cold water, and everything necessary to .secure eonifort and order. These schools are Non-Sectarian, in theory and practice. ' Schools on such a basis are. believed to be the imperative want of the times. To exhibit their position clearly, aud correct the report which has obtained to a considerable extent, that they are Sec tarian, and belong to the Primitive Baptist Order, wa subjoin the following from Section 5thi of the charter, U W'it : "These Schools shall never be Denominational or Sectarian that is, the peculiar tenets which distin guish one deuomiuation of christians from tiiiuther, shall never be taught in them, nor shall the religious fnith of any student ever be interfered with." The "hrst and great" regulation of The Wilson Schools, on which "hangs all tjie law," ani oil the strict observance of w hich, J they have acquired-a most enviable reputa tiu at home aad abroad, "requires every student to do his ditfy." Nothing else gives eUtiii to membership. Habits of idleness, extravagance and insubordination, caunot be fostered here. Boys' who are not brave enough to do their dutv, are not wanted. (iirls, whose highest ambition it is to be edu cated to a faahuuabl "oruauieutal idleness," are out desired. - The sessions correspond with those of the University, and commence about the middle of January and July La each year, continuing twenty weeks." Some years ago in the days of the thirty-shilling notes a certain Irish man saved up the sum of eighty-seven pounds ten' in iotes of the Bank of Ireland. As a sure means of securing this,valuabIe?propertv, he put it m the foot of an old stocking, and buried it in his garden, where- bank note paper couldn't fail to keep drv, and to come out when wanted, iu the best peserva- tion After leaving his treasure in its cx- cellentlplacc of deposit for some months, it occurred the depositor to take a look at it and see how it was petting on. 'lie found the stocking-foot apparently hill of the fragments of i mildew and broken nmshroons. No other shadow f a shade of eighty-seven pounds ten ! In the midst of his despair, the man liad the sense not to disturb the ashes 'his property, j lie took the ft c inc-toot in lias hand, posted off to the Bank in Dublin entered it tone morning as soon as it was opened, and staring at the clerk with a most 'extraordinary absence of all expression in his face, said "Ah, look at that; sir ! The particulars of the notes were taken, without any reference to ould Phillips who could not, however, by any means, be kept out of the story, and the man departed. When he was cone, the stocking-foot was shown to the chief engraver of the notes, who said that if anybody could settle the business, hii son could. .' And he pro posed that the particulars of the notes should not be communicated to his son, who was then employed in his depart ment of the Bank, but . should be put away under lock and key, and if his son's ingenuity should enable him to discover from these ashes what notes had reallj been put in the stocking, and the two ' lists should tally, the man should be paid the lost amount To this prudent proposal the Bank of Ire land readily assented being extremely anxiolu that the man should not be a loser, but, of course, deeming it essen tial to be protected from imposition. The son readily understood the deli cate commission proposed to him. He detached the fragments from the stocking with the utmost care, on the point of a penknife ; laid the whole crentlv in a basin! of warm water; and presently saw them,: to his delight, be- r- . Meanwhile, the man, occasionally mur muring an exclamation of surprise,' or a protestation of gratitude, but gradually becoming vague and remote iu the lat ter as the notse-appeared, looked on, staring evidently inclined to believe that they were the - real lost notes, re produced iu that state by Rome chemi cal process. , At last they were all told out, and in his pocket, as lie still stood staring and muttering, 'Oh, holy moth er, only to think of it ! Sir, it's bound to you forever, that I am !' but more vaguely and remotely now than before.
