A FEW DAYS RECREATION The Editor of the Times will leave this afternoon and spend the Christ mas holidays out of the city. We need a rest and have decided to take it now. We will return tomorrow week and take up the quill again. In the meantime the paper will be in charge of the office force assisted by Miss Penick who will handle our tel-1 ephone and telegraph Associated' Press matter over our leased wires. Mr. C. T. Karris, formerly local edi- tor of the Times and Mr. Fred Swin dell will also assist in getting out the paper. We bespeak for them the cordial support and hearty co-opera-! tion of all our friends and readers and with this force and this talent the paper will be decidedly better with the editor away than at home. We wish each and every one a happy Christmas and every reader of the Times that generous feeling that should flow from soul to soul at the anniversary of the birth of our Sa viour who came to bring peace on earth and good will to men. We will not publish a paper Christmas day and only one semi weekly next week, that on Tuesday. i5, VI IS THE SECRET OF GIVING Lies ia the Cheiee of SontetUog that Renders Useful Service t the Redpieort and briags Constant Pleasant Memories of the Giver ill u late Join tie Red Go FURNITOl is the REAL GIFT. FOR HER A "New Edison" Kitchen Cabinet Library Table Floor Lamp Serving Tray Traveling Bags Dining Table Candle Sticks Cedar Chest Easy Chair Writing Desk Trunks Davenport Rugs Shirt Waist Box DANGEROUS DOCTRINE In today's paper we are publishing the appeal of Dr. Clarence Poe, edi- j tor of the Progressive Farmer which j has been the state organ of the Farmers' Union ynd deserved to be because Dr. Poe has not only given his life's work to the cause of the farmer, but his paper has done more real constructive work which has brought more of real value to the South, which is distinctly agricul tural than probably any other agency. Dr. Poe is not a politicin. Every one who knows anything about the public men of the state knows that he is a man of character and in tegrity. Now because such men as he and Mr. Green who have tried to make the Farmer's Union what it should be of real value to the farmer. they are called by the Co-Operator "Thieves and Plunderers." And they are thieves and plunderers be cause they have been trying to keep the organization out of the mire of polities and from the rocks that wrecked the Farmer's Alliance in the days that are gone The Times has been watching for a lone time the coarse of events in Wilson county. We had hoped that when Vr. Dixen who is an absolutely unconvertible niossback Republican of the most pronounced type had be come identified with the business in terests ef the eommunity that he would suit nis tool ways tnat nave lwavi hroneht him trouble and he imciL Mini uulu ue miu wiiuiii . i i . , . t i i . . same old thing in the same old In nntior ia hnnpat onri pprv nth or i u mt j nur man n u u nmn nnr t n o r u i i ll llouKULl ui a im una nuivi uul,. luul Ull ue Dusmees interests 01 me siaie ei Ant thftaA mnnArtari with fho Parm nir in ron ran isrnar ann mar nn in nn ma wnn ih ciTfn niTinn airec- uon 10 neep me mieves ana plun derers off of them. Now the Farmer's Union has a large following la this county and every meaner Is a friend of the Tlmfis. We hate nothing against the members ot the Farmer's Union for we have always encouraged the organization in every way possible, but we are not going to allow the or ganization to be delivered bag and baggage to the Republican party without a protest and we think It Is about time to stop the preaching of this dangerous and unwholesome doctrine ,tbe same kind of propogan da that has broight ruin and chaos In Russia and will bring It here if it Is persisted la. .
