Obituaries Edgar Robert Cale AULANDER, NC- Edgar Robert Cale, age 77, died peacefully on January 5, 2017 at the \^dant In patient Hospice of Green^e, NG. Mr. Cale, a native of Bertie County, was bom on October 27, 1939 to James Darden and Johnie White Cale in Colerain, NC. Upon graduating high school, he became an apprentice for the FBI. Rob ert married the love of his Ufe in 1961 and relocat ed to Virginia Beach. He began working as a Fo rensics Technician for the Virginia Beach Police department, retiring in 2000 after many years of dedicated service to the department. He was in strumental in the development of the latent finger printing process in the city of Virginia Beach. Rob ert was a hardworking man who always provided for his family. He eryoyed coin collecting, paint by number, putting puzzles together, and had a pas sion for humming birds, having tons return year af ter year for his pleasure. Robert was a loving hus band, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and wiU be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved him. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Hettie Jordan and brother, James Dalton Cale. Edgar is survived by his wife Lessie, two sons, Jerry (Ridgley) Cale, and Donald (Ldsa) Cale, both of Virginia Beach, VA; his daughter, Robin Cale (Cary) WTiitt of Little ERn, TX; fourteen grandchil- ^en; Coiy Cale, Gina Cale Harris (Jake), Kiistan Cale, Kara Cale, Sophie Cale, Dakota Cale, aU of Virginia Beach, VA, Skyler Whitt, Devyn WTiitt, Whitney WTiitt, all of Little Ehn, TX, Danielle Vin cent (Rob), Ashlee Funaro, Alyssa Funaro, Mark WTiite, and George WTiite, all of Virginia Beach, VA; three great-grandchildren; Christian Cale, Andi Harris, and Weston Cale; along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses for aU the care and ded ication they gave Robert and lus family throughout his sickness. A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at 12:00 noon at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Au- lander, NC, with the Rev. Tonuny Tripp officiat ing. The family will receive Mends one homr prior to the service, at 11:00 am at the church and oth er times at the home. The burial will follow at, Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC. Archie Madison Bowen WTNDSOR - Archie Madison Bowen, Jr., 65, of 123 Davis Road, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in his home. Mr. Bowen was bom in Bertie Coimty on Sep tember 23, 1951, and was the son of the late Archie M., Sr. and Madeline Taylor Bowen. Retired from Perdue Farms, he more recently had worked with Bertie Ambulance Service, was a member of Merry HiU Baptist Church, and had served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Surviving are lus wife, Anita Baker Bowen; two daughters, Holley Buda and husband David of Greenville, and Bonnie Copeland and husband Brad of Windsor; a sister, Mary Carol Chesson, and a brother, Keimy Bowen, both of W^dsor; and three grandchildren, Courtney Cox, Stephanie CUne, and Owen Buda. A memorial service wiU be held Saturday, Janu ary 14th, at 2:00 p.m. in Merry HUl Baptist Church and wUl be officiated by his pastor. The Rev. Stan ley Nixon.
