Byrd, 74, of Lexing ton, Nebraska, died Fri day, December 30, 2016, at Lexington Regional Health Center in Lexing ton. He was bom Au gust 15, 1942, in Wmd- sor, North Carolina, to Ernest and Rachel (Mizelle) Bjrd. Bobby graduated high school from Windsor, NC, in 1961. He then went onto further his education at NC State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. Bobby was married to Vickie HiU in North Car olina TVo children were blessed to this marriage; Rachel and Jon. The marriage ended in divorce. He foimd love again and married Becky (Charley) Hi att on August 16, 1985, in Anderson, Indiana He lovingly welcomed Becky’s dau^ters, Allison and Melissa to the family. Bobby spent his entire career of 49 years as a USDA Meat Inspector. He worked in North Caro lina, Indiana, and retired in 2010 from Tyson Fresh Meats in Lexington, Nebraska He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lex ington. He was also a past member of the Lion’s Club. He eryoyed reading sports books, doing yard work, refurbishing their 1910 home, word search books, and being outdoors. His greatest joy came from being with the grandchildren, and talking about family history. Of note, he did have a special, dry sense of humor, one of which will always be remembered. Bobby is survived by his viife, Becky of Lexing ton, Nebraska son, Jon (Angela) Byrd of Alexan dria, Indiana; dau^ter, Rachel (Jim) Mayfield of York, Nebraska; Becky’s daughters, Allison (De- onn) DeFord of Orange, California, and Melissa (Sidney) Gmber of Jacteonvfile, NC; one sister, Janet (Eugene) Price of Windsor, NC; eight grand children. Brandon Hughes, Drea’ DeFord, Owen Gmber, lily Mayfield, Ivy DeFord, Lucas Byrd, Ab igail Byrd, and Matthew Byrd; as well as extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, Janu ary 4, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. February 7 Martin Community College’s next Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program has been rescheduled to begin on Feb. 7. Classes are conducted from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and every other weekend during the day. Successful completers may then sit for the state’s BLET State Comprehensive Examination. Those interested in applying must complete a packet of information and forms no later than Feb. 6.
