BANKRUPTCY STOP Foreclosure STOP Lawsuits STOP Car Repossession STOP Tax Levies and Garnishments Call Allen C. Brown Attorney #252-752-0753 A Debt Relief Agency helping people eliminate debt through bankruptcy ^ Faith, favor, & focus I did something today that I seldom get to do: 1 went to church. I know what you’re thinking right now. This guy is a preacher whose whole life cen ters around the church. Well, you’re right! Let me say it this way - 1 went to church and wasn’t the preacher. 1 went for myself. I went to BE ministered to, rather than to minister. A great friend of mine was preaching the revival service at a local Chowan County church. Missionary Evangelist Brian Sawyer brought a tremendous word on the life of Noah. You remember. the guy who was told by God to “build an ark to the saving of his household.” And Noah did just that. Genesis gives us the detail of all of No ah’s ark plan; the demensions, the type of wood, the method, and the like. The tremendous project was all under the auspices of “Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.” (Genesis 6:8) The New Testament writer confirms this tremendous feat as Noah made the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 which records, “By faith Noah built an ark to the saving of his household.” Faith moved Noah to the place of fulfilling God’s divine call upon his life. Faith will move you to fulfill your God-given deS- "Be still and know that I am God." - PSALM 46:10 PASTOR WALUCE PHILLIPS tiny as well. What it is that He has called you to do? Whatever it is, trust Him who called you to lead you and to guide you. It takes faith. Favor was the amazing “1 will not fail” piece of this puzzle. God’s favor surrounded Noah like a shield. As he moved in faith, divine favor rested upon him to accomplish this mission. The same is true for you. Whatever God has called you to accomplish can and will be done because His favor rests upon you. He is Provider. He is Leader. He is Protector. He will not fail you. Will the challenges come? Oh yes they will. Noah’s favor caused him to look foolish in the eyes of men. They mocked him. They laughed at him for buidling this huge boat, but guess what? Noah kept the same thing that you and 1 must keep when God calls us to do something bigger than us - FOCUS. Noah focused on the call and the promise of God. He did not let the distractions stop him from accomplishing God’s command on his life. He was focused. Likewise, you and 1 must stay focused on the assignment of God upon our lives. We can not allow people to laugh us out of town at what we are trust ing God for. We cannot allow discouragment to stop us. We cannot tolerate fear. We re main focused, knowing that the God who called us will be faith ful. His favor will rest upon us and we will effectively fulfill our God-assignment. Remember, it was faith, favor, and focus for Noah and his clas sic boating project. It will be the same for you. NO, you might not be called to “save the world” with your boat, but God has a task for you to do, and faith, favor, and focus will cause you to be just as success ful as Noah! Go ahead, build your ark! I’m glad I went to church and wasn’t the preacher. Dr. Wallace Phillips is Sr. Pastor at Carpenter’s Shop International Church in Ahoskie. Dig a foundation What part of a house is very essential that hardly anybody sees, especially after it’s built? While it’s being built the only one that usually see this part of the house is the builder. This is the foundation. A foundation is essential for a house to stand. And while dig ging the foundation can be hard, it is still a must for the house. While the other houses may look good, with no foundation for a certain amount of time eventually the house will be un settled. A house without a foun dation might be appealing but it will fall. Digging a foundation can be hard. A few years back people dug foundations with shovels and that could be very hard at times. It may be cold outside but you have to dig a foundation. It may be hot outside, but we still have to dig a foundation; it may be raining outside but we still have to dig a foundation. The house has to have a foun dation to stand up on. If a place "This is the day the Lord has made." -PSALM 118:24 REV. JOHN M. KEETER has no foundation there is no where to put the building. Just as in the physical realm of a foundation for a home, we have to build and dig a founda tion for our spiritual maturity. We have to dig a foundation. Sometimes, it may be hard because we don’t feel like go ing in and praying or we simply think we don’t have time, but we have to make time. We have to realize without a foundation, we have nothing. A foundation is praying, seeking after God, and sometimes it may be difficult because we’re tired or don’t feel like praying but we must go in and dig the foundation. We must pray and we must seek after God. We have to have a foundation for our Christianity and for our relationship with our Father. To build on without the foun dation our plans will fall but if we have a foundation in God his plans will always succeed. The word of God says that “Upon This Rock I will build my church and the gates of Hell will not prevail” upon this founda tion, the rock which is Jesus. We need to get into a place where we know who father is, know who Jesus is and that God could be number one in our life. We need to pray and study God’s word to dig our foundation, once we dig.our foundation we can start building on. Without the foundation we have nothing. So go, and dig your founda tion. The Rev.
