2 I FEBRUARY 22,2017 BERTIE LEDGER-ADVANCE Community Obituaries The fabric of Bertie County since 1832 Nancy Rose Lawrence Briley EDENTON - Nancy Rose Lawrence Briley, 77 of Edenton, NC passed away on Wednesday, Febru ary 15,2017 in Vidant Chowan Hospital. Ms. Briley was bom in Bertie County on July 3,1939 to Belva Gray Perry and Andrew “A. J.” Jackson Lawrence and was the widow of the late James Ray Briley. She attended Merry HiU Baptist Church and Eden ton Church of God. Surviving include her two daughters: Kim Hick man and her husband Tun of Edenton, NC and Amy Rouse and her husband Andrew of Greenville, SC; her son James Ray Briley, Jr. and his wife Connie of Pickerrs, SC; her sister Jane Lawrence and her hus band Archie Smith of Greenville, NC; her brother Jack Lawrence and his wife Judy of Edenton, NC; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A Celebration of Ms. Briley’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, Febmaiy 18, 2017 in Eden ton Church of God with Pastor Donald Sawyer of ficiating. Burial will follow in Beaver Hni Ceme tery. The family will receive Mends at the church on Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM imtU the funeral hour. He was bom in Bertie County, May 23, 1943 to the late Joseph Lester and Margaret Todd Phelps and was predeceased by his brother, Ray Phelps.
