A2 I APRIL 26, 2017 BERTIE LEDGER-ADVANCE Community Obituaries The fabric of Bertie County since 1832 Alton Morris Robertson COLERAIN - Alton Morris Robertson, age 84, passed away on April 20,2017 at his residence. Mr. Robertson was bom on September 2, 1932 to the late ^^^am and Sadie Morris Robertson in Bertie County, NC. Alton graduated from Mars HiU High School in 1950. He excelled at showing short homed cattle at State Fairs in North Carolina and Virginia. Alton was a lifetime farmer and eryoyed his time doing so. He was co-owner of Robertson Brothers Farms. Alton was an active member ol Mars HiU Baptist Church where he served in many capacities, deacon, men’s choir, finance commit tee, just to mention a few. He was always willing to help in any way, when the need arose at the church. Besides his parents, Alton was preceded in death by Ws sister, Florence Reid, and brothers, Milton Tmett Robertson, and William Julian Robertson, Jr. Alton is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Inez of the home, two daughters, Cindy Johnson and husband Earl of Ahoskie, NC, and Dawn Bow man and husband Eric of Colerain, NC; sister, Sarah Watts and husband John of Cary, NC; sis ter-in-law Charlotte Robertson of Colersin, two granddaughters, Brsndi Johnson Lynch, and Caro line Baker Bowman; grandson, Brent Morris John son; three great-grandsons. Grant Mortis Johnson, Wyatt Alton Lynch, and William Earl Lynch ; and great-granddaughter, Karlee Virginia I^ch, two nephews Tmett Robertson of Ahoskie, and Greg Robertson and wife Rosemary of Colerain, NC; niece, Jennifer Derrick and husband Jimmy of Gar ner, NC. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at any time at the home. A celebration of life fimeral service will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 11:00 am, at the Mars Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Burke Holland and the Rev. BiUy Presley, officiating. The family will have a private burial prior to the celebration of fife service. She worked with Dr. James Smith from 1950 rmtil 1981 and con tinued on with Dr. Sumiko 'Ts’Kamura. She was a member of Stokes Baptist Church and WMU. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Alton Elverett; sisters, Mattie Beaman, Lil lian Surgeon and Doris Ellis; and grandsons Rad Everett and Steven Perri. She is survived by hen sons, James Howard Ev erett (Chris), of Stafford, VA and 'Thomas Alonzo Everett (Gayle), of Ridgecrest, CA; daughter, Di anne Everett Perri (Jack), of'Taylor, MI; five grand children; six great-grandchildren.
