Commercial Driver License (CDL-Class B) - M & W, 7/10 thru 8/2, 5:30 to 8:30 pm, on the MCC Campus in Wiiliamston. This 24- hour course prepares individuals to take North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles Commercial Drivers License exam. It in cludes regulations and road safety proce dures and is taught to ensure students understand the rules and regulations need ed to successfully pass qualification exams for Commercial Driver License (CDL). The fee for this class is $70. Vehicle Safety Inspection - T 8c Th, 6 to 10 pm, 7/18 8c 7/20, Wiiliamston campus. This course is designed to meet the training and licensing requirements (initial and/or re newal) for the Vehicle Safety and On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Emissions Inspection Pro gram administered by the NC Division of Motor Vehicles, License and Theft Bureau. Upon completion, a student will understand the rules, regulations and procedures for conducting a vehicle safety and OBD emis sions inspection; be able to inspect a vehicle properly; and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam. The fee for this class is $70. Notary Public - M 8c W, 7/19 and 7/20, from 5:30 to 9 pm, on the MCC campus in Windsor. This course is required for any one interested in becoming a Notary Re public for the first time, and is recommend ed as a refresher course for current nota ries. The fee is $70. Forklift Operator - Sat., 7/22 and 7/29 from 8 am to 2 pm, MCC campus in Wiiliamston. This 12-hour course pro-vides instruction on the operation and maintenance of an industrial forklift. Core topics include forklift design, controls and instrumentation, pre use inspection, safety awareness, and fork lift stability. This course meets the training requirements for related Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Effective Teacher Training - M, T, W 8c Th, 7/31 thru 8/3; from 8 am to 5 pm, Windsor campus. Provides teacher assistants and substitutes with principles and practices of effective teaching. Core topics will focus on skills for basic classroom management, childhood development, and instructional techniques. The fee for this class is $125. Personai Interest Classes Concealed Carry Handgun classes - Sat., 7/8, from 8 am to 5 pm, on the MCC campus in Wiiliamston. Sat., 7/15, from 9 am to 1 pm, on the MCC campus in Windsor. This class explains the aspects of NC's Con cealed Carry Handgun law as it applies to the rights of a citizen to carry a handgun. The course will cover the use of deadly force, how concealed weapons may be carried and gun safety. Successful comple tion of this course provides the required training certificate needed to apply for a N.C. concealed carry permit from the local sheriff's office in your county of residence. Students are required to bring a handgun, 50 rounds of ammunition as well as eye and ear protection. The fee for this class is $70. Health Care Classes Medication Aid for Long Term Care - T 8i Th, 7/11 thru 7/27, 5 to 9 pm, Wiiliam ston Campus. M, W & Th, 7/17 thru 7/27, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm, Windsor Campus. This class meets the NC Board of Nursing training requirements for becoming quali fied as a Medication Aide. Covers the six rights of medication administration for non- licensed personnel. Topics include medica tion administration via the oral, topical and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implica tions. Upon completion, students should be able to take the competency exam and , demonstrate skills necessary to qualify for listing on the NC Medication Aide Registry. A student must be a high school/GED gradu ate and a certified Nursing Assistant I to be eligible to enroll in this course. The fee for this course is $70. The textbook is $18.46. Career Pathways in Healthcare - 7/11 to 8/3, T & Th, from 6 to 9 pm, on the Windsor campus. 8/1 to 8/10, T 8t Th, from 8:30 am to 3 pm, on the Wiiliamston campus. Introduces students to health care classes in several areas of study. The curriculum al lows students to explore their health career interests via the internet and personal inter views. Students research skills needed to be successful in their field of interest - includ ing job responsibilities, Job search strategies and researching available Jobs in their geo graphical living area. Students will also identify learning styles and develop prob lem solving and communication skills. The fee is $70 but this may be waived for quali fying students. Defensive Driving Defensive Driving Course (DDC-4) - Tues., 7/18, from 8 am to 12 pm, Wiiliamston campus. This is a fast-paced driver im provement program that offers practical strategies to reduce collision-related inju ries, fatalities, and costs. It addresses the importance of attitude in preventing crash es, and reinforces the good driving skills students already have. DDC-4 shows stu dents the consequences of the choices they make behind the wheel. The fee for this class is $50 and the textbook is $5.
