The Carolina Country Stampede September, 2017 Welcome to Carolina Country Stampede By Leslie Beachboard Enterprise & Weekly Herald Williamston - A William- ston tradition continues. The 21st Annual Carolina Country Stampede is set to take place Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30 in down town Williamston. Each year of the event, peo ple gather for food, fun, music, dancing and fellowship. Streets wiU close downtown at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29 for vendors and carnival rides to set up. Festival activities begin at 5 p.m. and include rides for the children, handmade crafts, gift items, clothing and a va riety of food that wUl please everyone’s tastes, including chicken muddle, pulled pork, snow cones and funnel cakes. At 7 p.m. The Tams wiU light up the main stage in front of the WUliamston’s Town HaU. The festival wUl close for the evening at 10 p.m. Fri day evening and wUl start up again Saturday morning at 10 a.m. There are approximately 51 vendors signed up, according to town clerk Christina Craft, and include food, jewelry, clothing, face painting and baked goods. Fried foods wUl be at the top of the menu, including ev erything from fried bologna sandwiches to fried Oreos and pop tarts. Entertainers wUl be playing throughout the day, on Sept. 30 starting at noon with Sarah Hardison Harris. Joyce Brown and Joyful Noise Gospel Sing ers wUl foUow at 1 p.m., then gospel music by Curtis Hyler and Jubilation at 2 p.m. At 4:30 p.m., Barney Con way wUl be hosting “Games for Cash and Prizes,” where contestants wUl have an op portunity to compete in games of skUl and fun for money and other prizes. At 5 p.m. Dick Feyer wUl perform on the main stage, foUowed by the Moonshine Band at 6 p.m. Emerson Drive, NashvUle recording artists, wUl take the stage at 7:45 p.m. until the festival closes at 10 p.m. Admission is free to aU events. People are expected to at tend from aU over eastern North Carolina. Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs to relax in during the perfor mances.
