The motorcycle reportedly ran off the road to thQ right and wrecked, but the operator - later identified as Barnes - was able to jump from the vehicle and flee the scene with Cpl. Thomas giving chase on foot. Cpl. Thomas was able to locate Barnes and take him into custody without further incident. Barnes with felony speeding to elude arrest, fail ure to heed blue lights and siren, reckless driving and driving while license revoked. He was placed under a $10,000 secured bond and confined to Bertie-Martin Regional Jail. The motorcycle was also seized. Lane said it was Barnes’ second offense for fail ure to heed blue lights and siren as he was also charged in March 2015 with the same offense. “These are the type of incidents which put every motorist on the highway at risk,” Chief Lane said. “High speed chases are dangerous and, in most cases, do not end in a positive manner. “Cpl.
