Book Sale
Sallie Harrell Jenkins Memorial Library is having a book sale.
Hardback books are 25 cents and paperback books are 10
cents. The sale will continue until all books are sold. The
library is located at 302 Broad St. in Aulander. For more in

Scholarship Applications
The Windsor Rotary Club is currently accepting scholarship
applications for the Rick Woodard Scholarship. The annual
scholarship is given to a student who is pursuing a career
in the medical field and is a resident of Bertie County. For

era in the Americas. They have blue, or blue and rose beige,
plumage. Female birds are less brightly colored than males,
although color patterns are similar and there is no noticeable
difference in size. Bluebirds are territorial and prefer open

summer. Bluebirds are attracted to platform bird feeders, filled
with grubs of the darkling beetle, sold by many online bird
product wholesalers as mealworms. Bluebirds will also eat
raisins soaked in water. In addition, in winter bluebirds use
backyard heated birdbaths.

The town of Powellsville Commissioners will host their regu

scheduled meeting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 3 at the Bertie
County Election Office, 210 W. Watson St. in Windsor.

Golf Tournament
The Bertie High School Football Team will host a golf tourna
ment beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at Cashie Golf
and Country Club. The format is a four-man super ball or
captain’s choice. The cost is $300 per team. Hole/green
sponsorships are available also. Lunch will be provided. All
proceeds go to the BHS football program. For more informa

Fundraiser
Lawrence Academy will host “Gathering on the Green” from
6 until 9 p.m. Friday, April 13 at Scotch Hall Preserve in Mer
ry Hill. It is an event filled with heavy hors d’oeuvres, drinks,
an auction and a raffle. Tickets will be available throughout
