Bertie County escaped major
and flooding from Hurricane Flor
ence.
Initially last week’s forecasted
track of Hurricane Florence had
much of Bertie County preparing
for the worst.
Bertie County was projected to
experience widespread rainfall
totals of six-to-12 inches, with po
tential of more, as well as tropical
storm force winds, storm surge
and inland flooding.
Ahead of the storm, Bertie Coun
ty Chairman Ernestine Bazemore
agreed.
“1 was very pleased
with the level of prepa
ration we saw through
out the county,” Coo
per said. “Not only did
all emergency services
- EMS, fire, law enforce
ment and emergency
management - staff
up to handle what we
could have gotten, but
other entities and indi
viduals stepped up to
the plate.”
