much to the afternoon s pleasure.
The unlucky thirteen proved to
be most lucky for host and guests
in attractive gifts and delicious ice
' cream and cake. '
Stones Return '
Mr. and Mrs, John Herbert-Stone
have returned from. their wedding
trip and, for the present, are stay
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Lyman
Higdont After July 1 they will
occupy one of the Orlando apart

Mrs. Stone was the former Miss
Alberta Beam, off Asheville, who
taught in the Franklin schools be
fore her marriage. " r
Mr. Stone is technical assistant
to the supervisor of the Nantahala
National Forest.

will entertain at'their annual Fourth
of July dinner at the" home of
Mrs. T. J. Johnston on Monday at
12:30 o'clock. -.- .
The dinner is given each year
to the Macon county Confederate
veterans and theic wives or widows
and is looked forward to - with
great deal of enthusiasm by both
the daughters and their- honor

program. The entrtainment num
bers and speeches will be quite in
formal.

the late Rev. Caleb A. Ridley,
died at her home on ureen s
Creek Monday morning, after an
illness of several weeks.
Mrs. Ridley is widely known in
Macon county and has many friends
here who will deeply regret to
learn of her death.
