By REV. O. P. ADER
A visiting contract player has
been asking Franklin bridge addicts
to solve a neat little end play
problem. It involves a delicate
squetze, which must be timed ex
actly right. Here is the problem:
C. A 2
, D. J 4 i
H. 7 6
S. ..
NORTH C. 8
C. J 3 D. 10 8 6
D. Q 4 H.
H. WEST EAST S. T 7
S.Q6
SOUTH
C. 10
D. A K 9
H.u '
S. 10 8
Hearts are trumps. South must
lead and take all six tricks. This
is a double dummy problem, with
all hands exnosed. so oerfect de
fense is assumed on the part of
East and west..
The solution will appear in next
week s Press.

Court's over and ' all's quiet on
the square. The lawyers said their
last say Friday afternoon before
Judge H. Hoyle Sink and depart
ed, not to return until next .term,
which is in November.
The last few davs of court were
given to civil cases, most of them
of little interest to anyone save
lawyers and litigants. Attendance,
which packed the court room to
the stanaing-room-oniy point dur
ing the criminal cases, dwindled to
a few bored farmers, who hadn't
much else to do these days anyway.
. Stallcup WU1 Upheld
One decision civil case that inter
ested a number of persons was that
of the W. R. Stallcuo will. The
iurv found that the will was a true
Kone, had been properly drawn, and
that Mr. btallcup was in his right
mind and was not unduly influenced
hv anvone when he sierned it. Mrs.
j
Sallie Sellers was declared to be
the Drooer executrix. Witnesses to
the contested will were W. T.
Moore. Lawrence B. Liner and the
lstte T. J. Johnston.
The executrix was ordered to
nnv the' sum of $750 to the clerk's
j ' f
office sometime during the next
twelve months to the caveators,
Irene Lanier, Burdell Furr ana
Haughton Williams.
The Bank of Franklin, suing to
recover $1,510.47 from Fred Hen
derson, won its case.
Lewis Derberry, who pleaded nolo
contendere to a charge of carrying
a concealed weapon, was recogniz
ed in the sum of $100 to appear at
the November term. Prayer for
judgment was continued.

It's surprising what a change repainting a
room can do for it. It's like giving it a
new breath of life like donning a new suit
of clothes, For the small expense you'll
find it many times worthwhile to paint now.
and bring new beauty as well as more value
