OFFICERS OF HUDSON LIBRARY RE-ELECTED The annual meeting of Hudson Library association was held at the ' Smith Cottage, Thursday, August 3. All of the officers atd trustees were re-elected as follows: Mrs. J. J.. Smith, president; Mrs S. T. Marett, vice president; Mrs A. J. Salinas, treasurer;: Miss R. C Nail, " secretary; trustees, Mrs. J, A. Hines, Miss. M. A. Kavenal, Miss Albcrtina Staub and Miss M. D. Warren. The librarian, Miss Gertrude Har bison, reported 67 books purchased, and 95 books added by gift during the past year, making a total of approximately 5,CXX) volumes in the library. During the year 5,367 books and magazines were lent to 505 readers. . Tne library is open every day at present; Monday, -Wednesday and Friday '. mornings from 10 o'clock unti) 12 o' clock and Tues day, Thursday and Saturday from 4 o'clock until 6 o'clock in the aft ernoons. MOVIES ALL WEEK Movies are being given at High lands theatre on ' Wednesday and Thursday: as well as Monday, Tues day, and Friday and Saturday? If the Wednesday , and" Thursday show pay they will continue thru the season. COW WARNING A certain cow, a nice Ted cow, with a big grayish white spot splat- tercd -ovrr her--nidd v complexion, has formed the habit of going out and annoying her neighbors. She came home the other day with a shamedy expression on her coun tenance, and with the following righteously indignant note tied to her horn : "No thank you. We are not . buying beef today. We expect o have some potatoes and cabbage for sale if the neighbors will keep their cows at home." (Signed) Blank. DR. BASCOM ANTHONY VISITING HIGHLANDS Dr. Bascom Anthony, from the South Georgia conference of the Methodist church, is registered at Highlands Inn. this week, and con ducted services at the Methodist church here last Sunday wght. Dr. Anthony, who is 74 years, of age, has served as delegate to the district conference for many years. v His home is ncarDaricn, -Georgia,' and is on Doughboy Island, off the Georgia coast. Dr. Anthony will -bfnJEighlandsjLJcw'eek s and will probably preach at the Methodist church again before he leaves. A small fire occurred here one day last week when the porch of Levi Cranes house burst into flame's, catching from a box of ash es which had been set on the porch some hours before. ' The fire was discovered almost immediately, and was extinguished befote much head way was gained. Damage was slight. Miss Mary Thornton, of Hartwcll,. returned to Highlands with them and is spending several weeks as their guest. Mrs. Anna Wright, of Atlanta, is visiting relatives in Highlands this week. Coker. all of Chapel Hill, N. C, arrived in Highlands early this week for several weeks stay. Pugh Crane, small son of Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Cran,e, is reported to be somewhat better after a recent illness. .
