Singing Convention
To Be Held at Snow Hill
A Sunday afternoon singing con
vention will be held at Snow Hill
Methodist chuiyh Sunday after

o'clock, according to an announce

for publication. The public
is invited to attend.
John Mumpower Dies
At Home in Knoxville
C. C. West was notified in a
telegram Wednesday of the sud
den death of his brother-in-law,
John Mumpower, at his home in
Knoxville, Tenn. Mr. Mumpower
married Miss Eva West, formerly
of West's Mill.
Immediately after receiving the
message Mr. West left for Knox
ville to attend the funeral.

Invited To Attend
Meeting
The annual meeting of the
Franklin Production Credit Assort
ciation, which serves the counties
Cherokee and Graham, will be held
Wednesday, January 30, at the
courthouse in Franklin, it was an
nounced this week by E. W. Long,
secretary of the association.
Mr. Long said all of the farmer
borrowers from (the association, the
holders of Class "B" stock, were
expected to attend. He also ex
tended an invitation to attend the
meeting to all other farmers in
the territory served by the associa
tion, expressing the hope that many
would accept.
"Every member of the associa
tion," said Mr. Long, "is urged to
bring one or more non-members
with him, as it is our desire that
every farmer in this section shall
acquaint himself with the credit
which our organization has to offer.
"Directors of the association for
the ensuing year will be elected at
this meeting. Every member of
the association is entitled to cast
one vote, regardless of the number
of shares he owns, and it is to his
interest to vote for men of the
highest integrity and business acu
men. "At the meeting a complete re
port of the year's operation of the
association Will be submitted. The
Production Credit Corporation of
Columbia will be represented at the
meeting by Mr. Graham, president,
who will outline the set-up qf the
Farm Credit Administration 4 of the
third district, the method of con
trol and operation of the produc
tion credit associations, and will
give an explanation of the associa
tion's operating statement from or
ganization through December 31,
1934."

Diet in Hendersonville
J. S. Elmore, 82, formerly of
Macon county, died of blood pois
oning at his home in Henderson
ville Sunday, January 6. Mr. El
more is survived by his widow and
a brother, W. T. Elmore, of Ya
kima, Wash.
Funeral services were conducted
at the Shepard funeral parlors in
Hendersonville, by the Rev. Mr.
Jones, Baptist minister. Among
those at the funeral from out-of-town
were Miss Mary Helene El
more, of Macon county; W. E. El
more, of Bryson City; Mrs. C. L.
Durham, Boston, Mass., and Miss
Mary Helen Elmore, of Americus,
Ga.
Mr. Elmore married Miss Laura
Sherrill, of Bryson Gty. Imme
diately after they were married
hey went to Mount Vernon, Wash.,
where they lived for about 30
years, Mr. Elmore engaging in the
real estate business. They returned
to western North Carolina in 1920
and made their home in Henderson-
