FuneralServices Held For Sam Cunningham Funeral services for Sam Cun ningham, 67, well known Macon county farmer who died Wednes day night of last week at Angel Hospital, were held at 10 o'clock Fri day morning at Clark's Chapel Meth odist church. The Rev. J. A. Flan agan, pastor of the Franklin Pres byterian church, and the Rev. E. R. Eller, pastor of the Franklin Baptist church, officiated. Pall bearers were Lee Leach, George Mashburn, Claude Russell, Will Sellers, Ed Dowdle and Claude Calloway. Mr Tunninffham was a member of the Junior Order of United! American Mechanics. Surviving Mr. Cunningham are his widow, two daughters, Miss Essie Cunningham, of Franklin, and Mrs. J. B. Sherrill, of Asheville; and seven sons, Walter and Carl Cunningham, of Waynesville; Paul Cunningham, of Rainbow Springs; Fred Cunningham, of Baltimore, Md. ; Roy, Bill and Henry Cunning ham, of Franklin. Aquone Ball Team Defeats Rhoda Nine, 10-4 The Aquone baseball team de feated the Rhoda nine at Rhoda June 16 by the score of 10 to 4. Oak Dale Rev. T. D. Denny filled his reg ular appointment here Saturday and Sunday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Raby Roper a son, Terrel Robert, on Monday, June 10. Cling Roper's children gave him a birthday dinner Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tippet and Ruth McCoy, of Iotla, were visit ing here Sunday. Rev. George Younce, of Aquone, was visiting here Saturday and Sunday. Miss No.nia Poindexter, who has been staying with Mrs. W. N. Cow ard at Cullowhee, spent part of tire past week with home folks. Eugene Baldwin and Lester Craw ford, who are working in the Aquone CCC Camp, spent the week-end with home folks. Loyd Tallent, of Iotla, took din ner with Lawrence Roper Sunday. Macon countv has an ri nf 513 square miles. Missionary Union Holds Annual Meeting The annual meeting of the Wom en's Missionary Union of Macon county was held at the Iotla Bap tist church on May 28 with Mrs. Sam Gibson, associatkmal superin tendent, presiding. Miss Mary Cur rin, state young people's leader, was 'present and delivered an inspira tional address. A picnic dinner was served at the noon hour. In the evening a missionary play, "The Pill Battle," was presented by the young people of Iotla. The real need for missions was made very vivid through this play. The next annual meeting of the W. M. U. will be held at Highlands.
