HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY Mrs. Derald Ashe entertained with a children's party at her home on Harrison avenue Friday after noon, honoring her daughter, Fran ces, on her 12th birthday anni versary. Many outdoor, games were enjoy ed by those present, about 30 in number. At the conclusion of the party Mrs. Ashe served lemonade and cookies. BRIDE ENTERTAINED AT SHOWER Misses Ezella and Ethel Hurst entertained with a miscelleanous shower Saturday evening at their home on Harrison avenue for Mrs. Robert L. Hyatt, nee Miss Nettie Hurst, a recent bride. The living room and dining room which were thrown ensuite, were at tractively decorated in mixed gar den flowers. Approximately 50 friends called and the honoree was presented many attractive and useful gifts. Delicious refreshments were serv ed by the hostesses. Mrs. J. T. Rickman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rickman, of West's Mill, underwent an opera tion for the removal of his appen dix at the C. J. Harris hospital at Sylva Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers Dalton and "Top" Dalton, of Gastonia, came up Friday for a visit with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Dalton, at their home at West's Mill. Marjorie Blumenthal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Blumenthal, had her tonsils removed at Angel hospital Tuesday morning. Mrs. I. L. Easton and. two chil dren, Eleanor Ann and Dewey, re turned here last week after spend ing several months in Courtland, Ala., where Mr. Easton is employ ed.
